Bleckley Chief says the fire is under control.

A wildfire in southern Bleckley County this afternoon took the efforts of Bleckley Fire, Five Georgia Forestry Bulldoziers, Roddy Fire, Gresston Fire, Plainfield Fire, and Georgia Corrections Fire Departments, to contain.

At one point during the fire, it was feared that some homes in the path of the fire may have to evacuate. But, thanks to the efforts of Firefighters, no homes were damaged in the fire.

Georgia Forestry Commission Chief Ranger David Brown said that the initial thought is that arson may be the cause. Brown further said they have two possible suspects identified, but they will wait for their Fire Investigator to arrive and officially determine the cause.

This morning, before the Bleckley fire, Eastman Firefighters were called to three wildfires back-to-back. No structures were damaged from the Eastman Fires.
