South Dodge Elementary Teacher of the Year

SDE Teacher of the Year

Mariella Douglas was selected as the Teacher of the Year for South Dodge Elementary.  She is shown here with Principal- Elvis Davis, and Assistant Principal- Dana Brown.

South Dodge is proud to announce Mariella Douglas as South Dodge Elementary’s Teacher of the Year.

     Mrs. Douglas is married to Lawton Douglas and together they have six children, Dillon, Lillie, Cas, Emma, Ella, and James. 

     Mrs. Douglas is the daughter of Patricia Baker and Tommy Baker.  She is a graduate of Dodge County High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood/Special Education from Mercer University.  She is currently working towards a Masters in Special Education from Georgia Southwestern State University.

     Mrs. Douglas began her teaching career at Wheeler County Elementary and came to South Dodge Elementary in 2011.  Currently she is teaching Special Education.

     Mrs. Douglas is quoted as saying, “I am very honored and humbled to be chosen by my colleagues for this recognition, and I am blessed to work with such a great family at SDE.  I couldn’t ask for a better career”.

     The Administrators at South Dodge commend Mrs. Douglas for her unwavering commitment and dedication to excellence in education.  They stated collectively that “Mrs. Douglas is an absolutely fantastic teacher who strives to make a positive difference in the lives of her students, and she is very deserving of this honor”.
