A structure fire that occurred Monday has been ruled as Arson by the State Fire Marshal.

On Monday March 23, the Rhine Fire Department, along with other departments, responded to the home of Brenda Chambers on Highway 117 just a few miles out of Rhine. The home is considered a total loss.

Chambers tells the Eastman Examiner that her Grand-children live in the home with her during the week and most of their clothes were burnt in the fire.

According to Chambers, no one was at home at the time of the fire.

State Fire Marshal Investigator James Atkins determined that the fire was the result of arson, the fire was intentionally set. Atkins said that the Fire Marshal, along with the Dodge County Sheriff’s department will investigate the fire.

I spoke to Atkins again on Wednesday about the fire. No further details can be released at this time on an ongoing investigation, but Atkins feels that an arrest in the case is imminent.
