Two house fires on Wednesday kept firemen busy and displaced 6 from their homes.
The first one ocurred around 3:30 am on Sweet Home Church Road. The house belonging to Rickey Jones, and occupied by three renters, caught fire and was heavily damaged. The Dodge County Red Cross responded and assisted the victims with funds for a hotel, food, and clothing. Fire Departments from Milan, Mitchel, Rhine, Chauncey, Eastman, and Telfair State Prison all responded to the fire.
The occupants were asleep when the fire broke out, but escaped without any serious injury. One was checked by Dodge EMS with complaints of soreness from jumping out of a window to escape the fire.
A second structure fire occurred in the Sunset neighborhood of Eastman around 6:00 pm. No one was injured in that fire, but two people were displaced from that home and aided by the Red Cross as well.
