Accusations of sexual harassment and mismanagement surround Telfair Emergency Medical Services
A group of Telfair County citizens gathered at the Telfair County Board of Commissioners Office today as a special called meeting was held by the board. No one on the board would tell us what the meeting was about, but the group of citizens were very vocal about things they have heard.

Allegedly a female employee of the EMS has launched a complaint of sexual harassment against Robert Carter, the Director of the EMS department. Other complaints of mismanagement were brought up as well. Over the course of the past year, all but two of the employees remain at the EMS that were there when the current director was appointed. Supposedly of the 20 some-odd employees now, there are only two that are even from Telfair County.
The Board opened the meeting and then almost immediately went into executive session, only saying that it was for personnel matters. The board meet for almost an hour before returning to open session. Once in open session, a motion was made to allow Commissioner Mark Smith to handle the employee matters. The motion was passed unanimously.
Some in attendance attempted to voice questions to the board, but were entirely ignored.
After the meeting we went out to the EMS office where Director Robert Carter was present. Obviously Carter was not able to comment on the situation, but he was very cordial and welcomed our cameras in for some pictures. Carter did say that the Ambulance Service was in full action and would continue to serve the citizens without interruption.
